Parish Life

Men’s Fellowship

The menʼs group is primarily a fellowship group consisting of all the men of the church and any invited guests. We try to get together 8-10 times per year for
fellowship and dinner. We take turns hosting in our homes or at the Church. We discuss the welfare of our parishioners, and occasionally organize projects to help the community.

Each year we organize, prepare, and host our Shrove Tuesday pancake feast for the entire congregation, as well as the community.

Women’s Fellowship

Women’s Retreat

For the past two falls, women of St. Philipʼs have gathered for a weekend at DuBose Conference Center in Monteagle ,TN. The annual retreat is sponsored by our Daughterʼs of the King Chapter and has a special theme for discussions, prayer, and related activities during our time together. There is also time to explore, rest, pray, and learn as we deepen our faith. A special benefit is always having fun as we make new friends and strengthen old friendships.

Social Gatherings

St. Philipʼs is blessed with talented and willing parishioners who faithfully respond to special events of all kinds throughout each year. These include receptions/dinners for weddings, funerals, Baptisms/Confirmations, anniversaries, and many others. This is currently a loosely organized group that uses a sign-up sheet or requests for help by telephone.

There is an effort in progress to add more structure and consistency to this ministry of support and fellowship.

Yoga is offered on a weekly basis, providing a place for the practice of linking breath with movement and meditation. It also fosters a positive and relaxing environment with no expectations or judgements. Classes are designed to accommodate all levels of yoga, and includes Chair Yoga. Attendance is typically 6-16 participants, a combination of our members and our neighbors. Donations are accepted and given to a charity chosen by the class members.

Knit Wits

Our knitting group gathers weekly with a common interest in fellowship and using our time and talents to knit prayer shawls to be given away as a sign of Godʼs loving embrace. These shawls are blessed by our Rector and usually given to those who are sick or in need of comfort.

Movie Club

Everyone is invited to gather on a bimonthly basis to enjoy a movie with broad interest, fellowship, and, of course, popcorn!

Coffee Hour

Our Coffee Hour is a vital ministry to St. Philipʼs. After the service (or between services), we gather for coffee, tea, donuts, bagels and other snacks, but especially for fellowship and conversation. We have several parishioners who rotate as hosts, and they love to serve with a smile and a greeting!

Welcome to Our Nursery!

We welcome you and your child to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. We believe that we are called to love all children within our community and to nurture and support their families. We want you to feel secure about your child’s well-being while you are at our church.

To accomplish this, we provide your child with a safe, comfortable, engaging environment that is properly staffed and equipped. All staff members are screened and have passed a background check.

We also have a Policies and Procedures Summary to acquaint you with our Nursery program.
